            Comprehensive Exam

Students are required to successfully pass the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Exam (CPCE) published by the National Board for Certified Counselors. The exam is multiple choice and covers the eight CACREP areas. Many study guides are available. One excellent book to assist with an overall review is: Vacc, N. A. & Loesch, L. C. (2000). Professional Orientation to Counseling (3rd ed.). Philadelphia, PA: Runner-Routledge. ISBN# 1-56032-851-7
